TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT IF THE SAME PART WAS REPLACED, THE FAILURE MAY RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

I OWN A 2006 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND WHEN I WAS WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE GEAR SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AFTER I SLIGHTLY BUMPED AGAINST THE GEAR SHIFT WITH MY ARM. WHEN I CHECKED TO CONFIRM THAT IT COULD BE MOVED WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE GEAR SHIFT I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BUTTON. IT APPEARED THAT THE VEHICLES GEAR SHIFT WAS ONLY DESIGNED TO CHANGE GEARS WHEN THE BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE GEAR SHIFT WAS ENGAGED. THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH IF THE GEAR SHIFT CAN EASILY BE WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BUTTON THAT WAS INTENDED FOR THAT FUNCTION. THE 5-CD DISC PLAYER HAS ALSO STOPPED FUNCTIONING TO THE POINT WHERE I AM UNABLE TO REMOVE THE CDS THAT ARE LODGED INSIDE THE PLAYER. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THEY HAVE MELTED INSIDE AND THAT IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE. I HAVE NOT NOTIFIED THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER OF THESE FAILURES AT THIS TIME.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY LOST ENGINE POWER AND CAR SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES THE CAR RESTARTED. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF THREE DIFFERENT INCIDENTS ( SO FAR) OF THIS HAPPENING TO MY CAR. I HAD IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND TO BE WRONG ( NO CODES CAME UP). I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT NISSAN HAD RECALLED VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE ( CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SENSORS OVERHEATING) . I CALLED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE IT IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HOWEVER, IT IS PART OF THE MASSIVE AIRBAG RECALL WHICH MAKES THIS EVEN MORE OF A DEADLY CONCERN..NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL ALL VIN NUMBERS THAT ARE HAVING THIS SHUT OFF ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED THEY WERE VERY STANDOFFISH AND UNHELPFUL. I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO PAY FOR COSTLY REPAIRS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED BY NISSAN....UPDATED 08/25/15 THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 07V527000 AND #06V223000 BOTH OF THESE RECALLS DEAL WITH THE AUTOMOBILE I OWN, A 2006 NISSAN SENTRA, WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN MAY 2006. I HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR ISSUES OUT OF THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS IN THE VEHICLE AND OIL INTAKE OVER THE LAST 18 MONTHS. THE CAR WOULD DIE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND BECAME VERY HARD TO START AS WELL AS THE OIL INTAKE BECAME EXCESSIVE. AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIPS AS WELL AS 3 VISITS TO LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOPS WITH ONLY TEMPORARY FIXES, I WAS AT LAST INFORMED AROUND MID DECEMBER 2012 BY ONE OF THE MECHANICS AT THE LOCAL SHOP THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON SIMILAR VEHICLES. I LOOKED THE INFORMATION UP AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2006 AND 2007 ON 2006 NISSAN SENTRAS. AFTER SPEAKING WITH NORTH AMERICAN NISSAN I LEARNED THAT THE RECALL WAS VIN SPECIFIC AND MY CAR, WHILE BEING THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS THE VEHICLES RECALLED, WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I SPOKE WITH A REGIONAL MANAGER OFF AND ON FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WHO INFORMED ME IN THE END THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I EVEN HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RAN AT THE NORTH LITTLE ROCK NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON DECEMBER 21, 2012 THAT STATES "CRANKSHAFT, CAMSHAFT SENSORS MALFUNCTIONING BUT IN GOOD CONDITION, OIL EXTREMELY LOW(WHICH I JUST HAD IT CHANGED A FEW MONTHS AGO), AND POSSIBLE ECM PROBLEM...ALL THINGS STATED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS SPECIFIC AUTOMOBILE REGARDLESS OF VIN NUMBER.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE COMPUTER. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL REPAIR, BUT NOW HE IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. WHILE APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES BEFORE HE REACHED HIS RESIDENCE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AGAIN. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE FIRST REPAIR WAS PERFORMED INCORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. NISSAN STATED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR COSTS, BUT THEY HAVE NOT YET DONE SO. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 83,000.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 1.8 2006 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE DASHBOARD. SOMEONE DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE STEERING BELT WAS SHREDDING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THEY ALSO INFORMED HER THAT THE STEERING BELT WAS SHREDDING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING BELT. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS GIVEN CASE# 5685502. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000. THE DEALER STATED TRUNK RELEASE INOPERABLE FROM REMOTE. THE DEALER REPLACED TRUNK LID OPENER ACTUATOR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STILL FEELS LIKE IT IS UNSAFE AND ALSO STATES THAT THE PAINT IS DEFECTIVE. UPDATED 06/14/07

MY SON PURCHASED A 2006 NISSAN SENTRA ON 10/13/06. THE CAR ONLY HAD 20 MILES ON IT. IT RAN GOOD FOR A WEEK THEN HE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT NOT STARTING. HE HAD TO GET IT JUMPED OFF. THAT WAS FRIDAY 10/20/06; HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS ON SAT. SUNDAY WAS A DIFFERENT STORY, HE AND HIS FIANCE HAD A GET IT JUMPED OFF THREE TIMES. WHEN YOU WOULD STOP AT STOP SIGN OR LIGHT IT WOULD BARELY TAKE OFF. SHE WENT BY THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT.THEY TOLD HER IT WAS PROBABLY THE BATTERY TO BRING IT BACK ON MONDAY 10/23/06; SHE SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE BETWEEN HIS TWO JOBS. HE WOULD COME BY AROUND 4:15 PM, THEY SAID THAT WAS FINE. HE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON TUES. 10/24/06, THEY RAN A COMPUTER SCAN ON THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS FINE THAT NO CODES SHOWED UP. HE TOLD THEM THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT HE WANTED TO GET WHATEVER IS WRONG FIXED. THEY TOLD HIM TO BRING IT AND LEAVE IT, HE EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT HE COULDN'T LEAVE THE CAR DUE TO THE FACT HE WORKS FROM 7AM-4PM AND 4:30PM-11PM. HE ASKED ABOUT GETTING A RENTAL OR A LOANER, THEY SAID HE COULDN'T GET ONE BECAUSE HIS AGE AND BECAUSE NO CODES HAD SHOWED UP. HE WENT TO PICK UP HIS FIANCE, WHILE THEY WERE IN THE CAR WAITING FOR HER THEY STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING AND THEN THEY SAW SMOKE. THEY GOT OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD, THE ALTERNATOR WIRES WERE ON FIRE. HE PUT IT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING PICKED IT UP AFTER I WENT THERE TO TELL THEM ABOUT IT. I HAD ALREADY REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN MOTOR NORTH AMERICA. WE WERE TOLD THAT WHEN THE CAR WAS SEND BACK FOR THE RECALL ON THE MOTOR THAT THEY FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE NUT UP ON THE ALTERNATOR AND THAT WAS WHAT STARTED THE FIRE WAS AN ARC. THEY ASSIGNED IT TO A CONSUMER AFFAIRS PERSON. WE HAD TO TAKE IT BECAUSE HE HAD NO OTHER WAY TO WORK. WE DIDN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL LATER THAT NIGHT IT WAS FOUND THAT ALL THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE WAS TAPED ALL THE NAKED WIRES THAT HAD MELTED, AND LEFT THE SINGED ONES ON THERE. T
