TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RIVERDALE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (5869 BROADWAY, THE BRONX, NY 10463, (718) 548-2800) FAILED TO SUCCESSFULLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAL FOR THE TPMS WIRES WAS NOT REMEDIED AND WERE CORRODED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WAS INADVERTENTLY GOING INTO LIMP MODE, WHICH INCREASED THE RISK OF A POTENTIAL CRASH AS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS, THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AS WELL AS THE CORRODED WIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE REMEDY FAILED FOR THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I TURNED CAR OFF AND I TOLD KIDS TO GET OUT AND WE WALKED DOWN EXPRESSWAY. I TOLD KIDS TO STAY THERE AND WENT TO WALK BACK TO OPEN HOOD AND CHECK IT, ON MY WAY BACK TO IT, IT HAD STARTED ON FIRE. I WENT BACK TO MY KIDS AND CALLED POLICE. WITHIN TEN MINUTES THE WHOLE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES.

THE HORN DOES NOT SOUND FROM THE STEERING WHEEL PAD WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND CAUSES A SAFETY INSPECTION FAILURE. THE HORN SOUNDS WHEN THE KEY FOB LOCK BUTTON IS PRESSED INTERMITTENTLY. THE HORN WHEN SOUNDING ON ITS OWN MAY SOUND ON AND OFF, OR ONE CONTINUOUS SOUND. WHEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC IT WAS DETERMINED THE TIPM (TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) IS FAILING IN MULTIPLE WAYS, AND IS THE CAUSE FOR THE HORN SOUNDING. THE TIPM IS KNOWN TO CAUSE WIPERS STOPPING, LIGHTS STOPPING, ETC AND POSES A VERY SERIOUS RISK. I WAS ASTOUNDED TO KNOW HOW FREQUENTLY THIS OCCURS AND YET NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN.

I STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WENT AWAY AND IT WAS FINE. I+VE ALSO BEEN NOTICED THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS THAT MY CAR REVS UP WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INLCUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V152000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN AND JUST RECENTLY THE COMBINATION SWITCH STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR ENDED. THAT IT MAY EITHER BE POORLY GROUNDED OR IS FAILING AND DRAWING EXCESSIVE CURRENT., HE RELATES THE STALLING IN WET WEATHER TO THIS AS THE WIPERS WOULD EITHER BE ON OR IN THE DELAY SETTING. ANY OTHER CIRCUITS SHARING THE SAME GROUND CIRCUIT WILL GET A REVERSE POLARITY VOLTAGE BURST EVERY TIME THE WIPERS SWEEP, IT SEEMS THAT WHEN IT IS ON DELAY THE SUDDEN HIGH RESISTANCE OF THE GROUND PATH KNOCKS OFF VOLTAGE SENSITIVE MODULES AND THINGS STOP WORKING FOR A MOMENT, IF YOU ARE OFF THE GAS, THE ENGINE JUST MAY STALL OUT. THIS CURRENT CAUSED THE OLD SWITCH CONTACTS TO OVER HEAT AND MELT THE PLASTIC. I TOLD LANDERS DODGE ABOUT THIS THE FIRST TIME IT FAILED AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST A BAD SWITCH,,AND NOW A SECOND ONE? NO THERES SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OF THE SWITCH CONTACTS THAT IT KEEPS BURNING THESE OUT! DEALERSHIPS WANT $800-1000 FOR THE REPLACEMENT, ROCKAUTO,COM HAS IT FOR $260 ($200 CORE CHARGE) $460 TOTAL TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART THEN RETURN THE CORE. I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR AT MORE THAN ONCE ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND SO CAN'T DIAGNOSE IT, BUT THIS ISSUE ONLY OCCURS PERIODICALLY IN WET CONDITIONS SO BEING ABLE TO RECREATE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP IS UNLIKELY. I WOULD ESTIMATE IT HAS HAPPENED AROUND 15 TO 20 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 YEARS. I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR OTHER DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT SOUND SIMILAR BUT NONE FOR THE AVENGER. IT WAS IN & OUT OF THE SHOP 3 TIMES IN THE 1ST MONTH OF PURCHASE FOR THE ETC. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SPEED SENSOR YET MY ETC LIGHT WAS ON AFTER REPLACEMENT. AFTER HAVING ETC SENSOR CLEANED & ETC SOFTWARE FLASHED THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO GO AWAY. ALMOST 2 YEARS LATER THE PROBLEM IS BACK & WORSE. MY ETC INDICATOR CAME ON, VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IDLING, STARTED JOLTING WHILE ACCELERATING & WHILE MAINTAINING A STEADY SPEED. IT BEGAN REVVING AT A COMPLETE STOP W/FULL PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BREAK (VEHICLE WOULD JUMP FORWARD; I FEARED IT WOULD RUN ITSELF INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE). WHILE SLOWING DOWN IT WOULD REV & ACCELERATE (CREATING THE POSSIBILITY OF HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE) W/OUT PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT DIED WHILE DRIVING & WOULDN'T START RESTART. WHEN IT DID START THE ETC WAS ON & IT WOULDN'T GET PAST 1000RPM OR ABOVE 20MPH & HAD A VERY ROUGH IDLE. A TUNE-UP WAS DONE, ETC SENSOR CLEANED, AIR-INTAKE SYSTEM CLEANED, & LOAD TEST DONE TO SEE IF THE BATTERY WAS GOING BAD. THIS VEHICLE IS INCREDIBLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AFTER RESEARCHING IT APPEARS THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON W/THIS ISSUE. DODGE NEEDS TO RECALL THIS THROTTLE BODY, IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE EXTENSIVE & THE PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED. ADVISED REPLACING THROTTLE BODY IS THE NEXT STEP. BOTH FRONT STRUTS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME A MONTH AGO. REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR THREE WEEKS AFTER BUYING THE CAR THAT WAS THREE YEAR'S AGO. IT SEEMS TO BE ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER HAS TO GET FIXED ON THIS CAR. I HAVE REPAIRED THE A/C UNIT ON IT TWICE THIS SUMMER. NOW THE POWERING STEERING UNIT IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED. I STARTED MY CAR ON SUNDAY AUGUST 3, 2014 AND THE ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER, AFTER WAITING A MINUTE THE CAR STARTED. I HAD ALL NEW SPARK PLUGS (BASED OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READING) PUT IN THE VEHICLE AND I'M STILL NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 20 MPH. I HAD PARKED MY CAR, 20 MINUTES LATER I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT STARTED. AS I SHIFTED THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY DIED AND THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT MY CAR IN PARKED AND STARTED IT AGAIN. AND IT DID IT AGAIN WITH ENGINE LIGHT ALSO. FINALLY, I STARTED THE CAR AND IT CONTINUED TO RUN. I BACKED OUT AND STARTED TO DRIVE. A BLOCK AWAY AT A FOUR WAY STOP SIGN THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. WAS NOT ABLE TO EVEN USE MY FLASHERS. I CALL A TOW TRUCK AND HAD MY CAR SENT TO A REPAIR SHOP WITH THE SPARE KEY. THE REPAIR SHOP CALLED ME LATER AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND IT WAS RUNNING FINE BUT MIGHT NEED TO BE LOOKED AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP. MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY STATED THE SAME THING AND THOUGHT THAT IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE KEY THAT I WAS USING. SO FOR TWO DAYS AFTER PICKING UP MY CAR, THE SPARE KEY WAS WORKING AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING. 4TH OF JULY EVENING MY CAR QUIT WORKING IN THE DRIVE THRU AND THE THROTTLE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO START IT BUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO USE MY FLASHERS CAUSE THEY DID NOT WORK. I WAS AFRAID THAT SOMEONE MIGHT REAR END MY CAR DUE TO THE VEHICLE WAS DYING AND I HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR. I WAS GLAD I WAS CLOSE TO HOME BUT THAT IS VERY SCARY AT NIGHT WHEN YOUR LIGHTS COMPLETELY STOP WORKING. ON OR ABOUT FEB. 17, 2009 AND CONTINUING TO PRESENT, MY 2008 AVENGER HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SHIFTING. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH HARD SHIFTING AND TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE. NOW, WHEN DRIVING AT 45MPH WHEN THE CAR GOES TO SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE, AND MISSES 4TH GEAR. THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF GEARS AND THE TACHOMETER CLIMBS RAPIDLY BECAUSE THE OVERDRIVE GEAR WILL NOT ENGAGE. WHEN ENGINE RPM IS LOWERED, CAR DOWNSHIFTS INTO 2ND GEAR (LIMP MODE) AND WILL NOT SHIFT NORMALLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RE-STARTED. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED MAY RESULT IN A CRASH AND PERSONAL INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF SERVICE BULLETINS RELATED TO IMPROPER SHIFTING OF THE 2008 AVENGER. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55MPH AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR FAILED TO INCREASE SPEED AND STARTED TO JERK SLIGHTLY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN MY CAR OFF AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE, UNTIL I NEEDED TO GO ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. EVERYTIME MY CAR WENT TO SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR WHEN I WAS HITTING BETWEEN 50 AND 55MPH IT WOULD HAPPEN. VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES STARTING AND THEN IT WOULD START AND RUN FINE AND THEN DIE.I WAS CONTACTED AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT COMING ON AND THEN WOULD ALL THE SUDDEN COME ON ANDTHEN QUIT SO I REMOVED THE REAR SEAT AND UNPLUGGED THE WIRE HARNESS AND COULD SEE WHERE IT HAD BEEN BURNED AND LOOKED AT THE TOP OF THE PUMP WHERE THE HARNESS PLUGS IN AND COULD SEE AND SMELL GAS.I REMOVED THE FUEL PUMP AND YOU COULD SEE WHERE ONE OF THE WIRE HARNESSES INSIDE THE FUEL TANK ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD BURNED A HOLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH.IN THE WHOLE PROCESS OF THIS NO FUSE EVER BLEW TO SHUT POWER OFF AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FUSE BY SOMEONE AT THE DODGE DEALER.I PROCEEDED TO LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE AND NOBODY HAS REPORTED IT THE CHANGED THERE FUEL PUMP BUT THAT DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE. IF THERE IS NO FUSE TO BLOW SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT AND IF THERE IS A FUSE WHY ARE THEY NOT BLOWING.

VEHICLE SPEED RAPIDLY DROPPED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, RESTARTED IT AND DROVE ANOTHER 50 FEET BEFORE THE SAME THING HAPPENED. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF A SECOND TIME AND RESTARTED. HAVEN'T HAD THE PROBLEM SINCE YESTERDAY. HOWEVER AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, THE ETC UNIT ON THE 2008 DODGE AVENGER IS AN EXTREMELY FAULTY UNIT AND THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. TYPICAL REPAIR IS AROUND $800. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALLABLE ITEM. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND WE WERE NEARLY REAR ENDED DUE TO THE SPEED DROP ON A THREE LANE HIGHWAY. I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO CHRYSLER AS WELL.

WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, THE ETC LIGHT CAME ON IN ADDITION TO SEVERAL OTHER LIGHTS AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOSE ALL POWER TO INCLUDE TURN SIGNAL AND ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSING A HUGE ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WOULD NOT START. THINKING IT WAS THE BATTERY I CALLED SOMEONE TO GET A RIDE AND JUMPER CABLES AND LEFT THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR TWO. WHEN I RETURNED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND IT ACCELERATED FINE UNTIL I HIT 50+ MPH AND LOST ALL POWER AND ACCELERATION AGAIN SO I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ONRAMP. WHILE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ONRAMP, I CONTINUED TO COAST TO AVOID GETTING ACCIDENTALLY HIT DUE TO THE LOCATION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO COAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH ALL THE WAY TO MY HOUSE WHICH WAS ABOUT 7 MILES AWAY. DURING THIS TIME I HAD NO ACCELERATION OR POWER AND MULTIPLE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT OVER NIGHT IN MY DRIVEWAY, I WENT OUT TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM AND IT WILL NOT START AGAIN. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING NOR IS IT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY AND THEY SUGGESTED THEM TOWING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS WHICH I REALLY DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS FOR EITHER AT THIS POINT. I HAVE HAD A REOCCURING PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE LIGHT COMING ON AFTER EXPERIENCING CHUGGING AND DECELERATION WITH MY CAR. IT WAS ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS BUT HAS NOW GONE ON WHEN I AM ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE ON OTHER VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I AM A POLICE OFFICER AND I HAVE DEFENSIVELY DRIVING TRAINING BUT THEY DON'T TRAIN YOU ON WHEN A PART ON YOUR CAR THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED FAILS WHILE TRAVELING 65 ON THE FREEWAY. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DO THEY NEED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM? YOU WILL RECALL A STUPID TIRE SENSOR BUT NOT THE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH? FIX THE PROBLEM PLEASE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT REMAINED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR THREE HOURS, AT WHICH TIME SHE WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY START THE VEHICLE. A WEEK LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AGAIN. IN EACH INSTANCE THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND HAVE POWER, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,631 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,046.

I CALLED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. WAS TOLD TO BRING IT INTO A DODGE DEALER, WHICH I DID THIS AFTERNOON ON 4/3/12, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING AFTER RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR, THAT'S FOR SURE. THE NEXT THING THAT WENT OUT WAS THE ENTIRE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING SYSTEM. ON OR AROUND APRIL 12 THERE WAS A WHAT LOOKED LIKE A SPARK NEAR THE AIR CONDITIONING PANEL. WHEN I REMOVED THE PANEL, THERE WAS EVIDENCE THAT THERE WAS A SMALL SPARK OR FIRE THAT ACTUALLY MELTED A SWITCH ON THE COOLING AND HEATING ELEMENTS. IT HAS YET TO WORK SINCE THEN. TODAY THE 11/29/11 MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED WHILE I WAS TURNING INTO A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION. THIS CAR IS A TOTAL DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN. UNFORTUNATELY I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 CHILDREN WITH VERY LITTLE OPTIONS FINANCIALLY TO DO OTHERWISE. I DID SPEAK WITH SOMEONE GIVING THEM THE DETAILS OF THE FAS SMELL AND THE STALL ISSUE. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF NO RETURN CALL I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT AND WAS TOLD MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THE SHIFTER THEN THE CAR WILL LOCK UP, AND ONCE YOU PUT THE CAR INTO PARK IT WILL NOT SHIFT FROM PARK. THIS HAPPENED TO ME AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. AFTER MUCH FRUSTRATION AND TRYING TO SHIFT THE CAR OUT OF PARK. THE LEVER THAT WAS HOLDING THE CAR IN PARK SLIPPED OUT OF PLACE AND ALLOWED ME TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ME AND THE OFFICER HELPING ME WERE ABLE TO PUSH THE CAR TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION. THIS OCCURS OFTEN AND HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES SINCE THAT TIME WHICH WAS THE FIRST. TO REPLACE THE PROBLEM IS TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. THIS COST $270.00. THERE HAS BEEN MANY CASES THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. IT ALSO SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO EVERYBODY AROUND 40,000 TO 50,000 MILES ON THE CAR.

I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO SEVERAL DODGE DEALERSHIPS (~15X) AFTER SPEAKING THE CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS AND ALL HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE CAR STATING THAT THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH IT. I CURRENTLY HAVE AN EXTENDED CONTRACT 7YRS/70K WARRANTY WHICH I PICKED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND IT IS STILL VALID, HOWEVER NO DODGE DEALER WILL SERVE MY CAR. EVENTUALLY I HAVE HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND REPLACE AT LEAST ONE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAUSE, DODGE DEALERS WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS AT THE 24K MILE MARK. SO, PLEASE TELL ME WHICH FEDERAL AGENCY HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO HOLDS THE INDEPENDENT CAR DEALERSHIPS AND CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX PROBLEMS. YOUR RECALL NOTICES WORK ONLY 25% OF THE TIME. DO YOU ALL HAVE A SCORECARD OF ACTUAL VEHICLES BEING REPAIRED IN ACCORDANCE TO YOUR NOTICES BECAUSE THERE IS A BIG DISCONNECT WITH COMPANIES SUCH AS CHRYSLER. I PURCHASED A 2008 DODGE AVENGER LAST APRIL, BRAND NEW. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID I HAVE A LEAK IN MY TRANSMISSION AND OIL TANK, OF COURSE THE ONLY THING ON THE DASH LIGHTING THIS TIME SAYS "TIRE PROBLEM". CAR PURCHASED 2/08 WITH 8999 MILES. IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A STARTING PROBLEM. USING FACTORY REMOTE STARTING THE CAR WOULD STALL AFTER A FEW SECONDS. ONCE IT FLOODED AND WOULDN'T RESTART WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL (A NO NO FOR THIS TYPE OF INJECTION SYSTEM). LOOKED AT BY DEALER THREE TIMES WITH NO PROBLEM FOUND AND NO FIX MADE. THE FOURTH TIME WE TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THEY FOUND(NOW APPROX. 21000 MILES) IT BUT STILL NO CODE VISIBLE FROM COMPUTER. SERVICE WRITER SAID WE NEEDED A FUEL INJECTION SERVICE SO I SAID DO IT. HE SAID IT WASN'T COVERED BY CHRYSLER SO I SAID DON'T DO IT. HE WAS VEHEMENT ABOUT IT NEEDING TO BE DONE AND PUSHED HARD FOR ME TO PAY AND I MAINTAINED THAT IF IT NEEDED TO BE DONE, IT NEEDED TO BE DONE FROM THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT AND NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A WARRANTY REPAIR. NOTE THAT IT STARTED FINE WITH THE KEY BUT NOT WITH THE REMOTE START. SAME FUEL INJECTORS ARE USED FOR BOTH STARTING PROTOCOLS AND FOR ENGINE TO RUN SO WHICH INJECTOR COULD BE BAD? DIDN'T MAKE SENSE AND THEREFORE WAS REJECTED BY ME. THE FOURTH TIME THEY RESET THE COMPUTER WHICH CHRYSLER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND PAID THE DEALER 24MINUTES TO FIX. NO MORE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR STARTING WITH EITHER THE KEY OR THE REMOTE STARTER BUTTON. NO INJECTOR PROBLEMS NOW OR BEFORE THE RESETTING OF THE COMPUTER.

PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK & RESTARTED IT. THE VEHICLE HAS TO DATE SHUT OFF ON US 6 X'S. THE EVEN WHEN INCIDENT HAPPENED WAS WE WERE JUST DRIVING THE CAR-GOING HOME. THE VEHICLE GIVES NO SIGNS,BEEPS OR WARNINGS THAT IT IS GOING TO SHUT OFF. IT JUST SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF. IT HAS OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 6X'S SO FAR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE-WHICH IS STILL UNDER ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY-TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP & NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED OF THE ISSUES W/THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE ALSO RECALLS THAT WERE NOT FIXED & ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WELL AS TRANSMISSION, BRAKE & TIRES ISSUES THAT ARE STILL AS OF THIS DATE NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THEY "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM". THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 13 DAYS BEFORE TELLING ME THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE "FLASHED". THEY DID THAT & CAR STILL STALLS OUT WHEN STOPPED @ STOP SIGNS OR LIGHTS. THEY TOLD ME THEY DO NOT KNOW WHY IT TURNED OFF ON ME & WHY THE STEERING LOCKED UP & BRAKES LOCKED UP WHEN IT TURNED OFF. SO THEREFORE THEY CANNOT TELL ME THAT THEY KNOW WHY THE CAR HAS DIED & THAT THE ISSUE IS EVEN FIXED! THEY WILL NOT SAY THAT IT WILL NOT TURN OFF ON US AGAIN. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE SEVERAL SITES (POPULAR MECHANICS, ETC.) & SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. I BOUGHT THIS CAR TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A SAFE, RELIABLE & DEPENDABLE CAR FOR ME & MY SON. MY SON HAS CEREBRAL PALSY SO I HAVE TO DRIVE IN THIS CAR. A FEW DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I BEGAN HEARING A TAPPING NOISE IN THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE KNOCKING (BAD GAS OR ROD). DEALER CLAIMS TO NOT HEAR ANYTHING. TOOK TO ANOTHER DEALER WHICH HEARD THE NOISE, KEPT THE CAR TO INSPECT AND REPAIR STATING THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. CAR WASN'T FIXED I COMPLAINED BECAUSE THE SECOND DEALER ADMITTED TO SPEAKING WITH THE FIRST DEALER THUS THE CAR WASN'T FIXED. THEY LIED TO ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS A FEDERALLY REGULATED EMISSIONS SYSTEM THAT MADE THE CAR SOUND THAT WAY. DEALER #1 OFFERED TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH A CHRYSLER REP. THEN HE CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT THE REP WOULDN'T BE LOCAL FOR 4-6 WEEKS. THE REP CALLED ME AND BASICALLY STATED THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE I JUST DIDN'T LIKE THE CAR. THE DEALER WOULD NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK, AND WERE RUDE ABOUT REPAIRS. I NEVER SAW THE REP. NOW THE CAR IS MAKING A RUBBING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING OUT. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING TO TRY TO REPLACE THE CAR BUT THE DEALERS HAVE PUT ME OFF SO LONG WITHOUT REPAIRS THAT I AM STUCK WITH THE CAR. LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER I OWNED THE CAR I BEGAN SEEING COMMERCIALS FOR THE CAR ONLY THE PRICE WAS MORE THAN $5,000 LESS THAN WHAT I WAS CHARGED. THEREFORE, THE BANK WANTS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY IN ORDER TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IGNITION ROLLS OVER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE STARTING. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO ATTEMPT STARTING THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES. THE CD PLAYER DOES NOT WORK, IT OVER HEATS AND WILL BURN YOUR HAND IF YOU TOUCH THE DIGITAL DISPLAY. I HAVE HAD FRIENDS IN THE COMMUNITY TO CALL ME AND TELL ME THAT MY CAR SOUNDED AWFUL WHEN THEY SAW ME IN TOWN. ADDITIONALLY I AM PAYING 430 A MONTH FOR THE PAYMENT WHEN THE GIRL ACROSS THE ROAD IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH HER NEW AVENGER YET SHE ONLY PAYS 279 A MONTH AT 11% INTEREST. WITH ALL OF THE PROBLEMS AND THE MISERABLE RIDE THIS CAR OFFERS, I CAN EASILY COMPARE IT TO A BICYCLE " A USED BICYCLE" AT BEST.

WE OWN A 2008 DODGE AVENGER. WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER (H07)CONCERNING AN ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO CUT OFF WITHOUT NOTICE. WE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHEN WE RECEIVED THE LETTER BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT IT AND SAID THEY WOULD NOTIFY US WHEN THEY RECEIVED INFORMATION. WE NEVER GOT A CALL FROM THEM. WE EXPERIENCED THE CAR CUTTING OFF ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT NEVER WHEN IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. ON SATURDAY, MAY 3RD, 2008 AT 7PM IN THE EVENING MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WAS BRAKING TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR CUT OFF CAUSING HIM TO LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. HE ATTEMPTED TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM BUT WAS UNABLE TO TOTALLY MISS THE CAR. HE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF HIM BECAUSE THE CAR WAS TOO HARD TO STEER AND BRAKE DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. AFTER THE ACCIDENT WE CONTACTED DODGE AND OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT OUR CAR IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. SOME 2008 AVENGERS ARE INVOLVED BUT ACCORDING TO OUR VIN THEY TELL US OUR CAR IS NOT INVOLVED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I DON'T KNOW WHY OUR CAR IS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEMS THAT THE RECALL NOTATED. WE WOULD LIKE THE RECALL TO BE REEVALUATED AND OUR CAR AND POSSIBLY OTHER 2008 AVENGERS BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ONCE THE BODY WORK IS FIXED ON THE CAR, WE WILL TAKE IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM.
