3/15/2011 - LEOMA, TN
TL CONTACT OWNS A 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LOSE POWER STEERING FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE RACKET PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED. THE RACKET PINION STEERING WAS REPLACED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTACE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER TO CALL NHTSA AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000. UPDATED 03/24/11

STEERING: RACK AND PINION

8/10/2010 - HOHENWALD, TN
TL CONTACT OWNS A 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A LEFT TURN THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT TURN THE BALL BEARINGS. THE POWER RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY FAILED AND FELL ON THE GROUND WHICH NEARLY CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE RETAINER WALL DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF HIM WHEN HE MADE THE LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE AND HE NOTIFIED THE GM MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL 03V527000, COMPONENT: STEERING: RACK AND PINION. HE HAD TO PAY THE REPAIR COST. HE DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

98 OLDS INTRIGUE, COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL, TRIED TO AVOID A CAR COMING OFF THE ONRAMP. HAD CAR ON CRUISE HIT THE GAS ALITTLE AND THE CAR TOOK OFF. TRIED TO STOP, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STOP, ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER I GOT OUT THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSE.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEATBELTS DID NOT LOCK. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND ENGULFED INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER A RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V116000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHICH THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

THIS RESULTED IN PERIODIC STALLING, SOMETIMES WHILE TRYING TO GET THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO START THE CAR AT ALL. MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE GM PAY FOR THIS REPAIR.
