TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. TWENTY MINUTES AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT CAME OUTSIDE TO FIND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHING A FIRE THAT HAD ENGULFED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V112000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.

I WAN ON VACATION 500 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. DRIVING THE 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY AS NORMAL ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STARTED OVER-REVVING AND THE VAN SLOWED DOWN. I PULLED OVER SAFELY. THE VAN WOULD NOT MOVE IN DRIVE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS FINE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED 100 MILES TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE WE DISCOVERED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT GREAT COST.

AFTER DRIVING FUEL SMELL FROM REAR OF VEHICLE AND FUMES ENTER CABIN AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. INSPECTED FOR LEAK FOUND LIQUID FUEL DRIPS FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK, REMOVED INTERIOR COMPARTMENT ACCESS PANEL AND FOUND SPIDER CRACKS IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP HOUSING. AS SOON AS VEHICLE IS STARTED THE FUEL SEEPS FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. WILL NEED FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. IN PROCESS OF CONTACTING MANUFACTURER - HONDA.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN, THE CONTACT DROVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHEN HE TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE CONTACT DROVE 120 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE WITHIN THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,500.

I HAVE HAD MY HONDA ODYSSEY INSPECTED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE WHEN IT COMES TO A STOP. I RECENTLY WAS TOLD BY A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE (MECHANIC OF HONDA) THAT SOME OF THE ODYSSEY (2006 MODEL) THE NOISE IS FROM THE GAS TANK BUMPING. I WAS TOLD THIS IS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE ODYSSEY. I TOLD THEM THAT SOMETIMES THE NOISE IS REALLY A LOUD AND A HARD CLUNK. I THEN WAS TOLD JUST CHECK AND SEE HOW FULL THE GAS TANK IS AT THE TIME. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND LEARNED OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T HOW THISCOULD NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN GAS IS INVOLVED? I THINK THEY SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, TWICE WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. HE HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000. UPDATED 03/04/09. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 03/04/09.
