TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. AFTER ACTIVATING THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SETTING THE DESIRED SPEED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED EVEN AFTER THE CONTACT STOPPED DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN TAMPA, FL. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. THE CONSUMER STATED SOLD VEHICLE AFTER LESS THAN 1 YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD REVVING NOISE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE THERE WAS AN ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. SEVERE NOISE IN REAR PINION AREA, POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL; FROM PREVIOUS PROBLEM WHEN REAR PINION NUT BACKED OFF CAUSING REAR PINION FLANGE & DRIVE LINE TO FALL OUT OF THE REAR END. THIS OCCURRED LESS THAN 300 MILES AFTER INCIDENT ASSOCIATED WITH CONFORMATION NUMBER 10763197. AS WELL AS I FORGOT TO MENTION THIS AT THE TIME OF FILING THE OTHER INCIDENT, WHEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD DUE TO A LOCKED DIFFERENTIAL, WE HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO GET IT SAFELY OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IF I HADN'T OF HAD HELP I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO A SAFE LOCATION TO WAIT UNTIL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED. I HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROLLING THE ACCELERATION SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. THE SAME PART ISSUES WERE ASSOCIATED WITH PRIOR AND LATTER YEAR RECALLS, 13V038000, 14V796000. I WAS LUCKY WITH MY SON TO HAVE NOT BEEN ON THE FREEWAY IF THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD FALLEN OUT AT FASTER SPEEDS, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD CRASH TO MY VEHICLE, OR ANOTHER PERSON WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND ME IN THE SAME LANE DUE TO A LOOSE DRIVE SHAFT.

PURCHASED VEHICLE USED FROM DEALERSHIP. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATED HEAVY. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POPPED DOWN TO THE FLOOR RESULTING IN RAPID ACCELERATION AND SPEED GAIN. I STOMPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND IT POPPED BACK UP ALLOWING ME TO REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE. ONCE ON OPEN ROAD I PUSHED ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO FLOOR AND IT STUCK AGAIN. ONCE AGAIN IT POPPED UP WHEN I TAPPED IT WITH MY FOOT. AFTER THAT I MADE SURE I DID NOT GO TO THE FLOOR AGAIN UNTIL THE OTHER DAY. I WAS PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC UPHILL WHEN A CAR SEEMED TO BE COMING A LITTLE FAST CAUSED ME TO ACCELERATE TO NEAR FLOOR. AT THAT POINT THE ACCELERATOR POPPED DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT WOULD NOT POP BACK UP WHEN I TAPPED IT WITH MY FOOT. IT RESULTED IN ME HAVING TO CROSS INTO THE ONCOMING LANE TO AVOID RAMMING INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WHICH WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT. MY HEMI REACHED 80+ M.P.H. IN A SHORT DISTANCE IN A 45 M.P.H. ZONE. I FINALLY FORCED THE PEDAL UP WITH MY TOE UNDER IT. THIS SCARED ME ENOUGH TO INVESTIGATE AND CALL CHRYSLER. THEY FIRST SAID THE FLOOR MAT WAS THE CAUSE. I CONTINUED TO PERSUADE THEM AND THEY NOW ARE OPENING AN INVESTIGATIVE CASE. IN THE MEANTIME I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT CAREFULLY. IT IS MY SELF-EMPLOYED WORK TRUCK TOO, AND WHEN IT SITS I DO NOT GET PAID. I TRIED PLACING IN PARK AND PUSHING TO FLOOR WITHOUT FLOOR MAT, AND PEDAL STILL POPS DOWN AND STICKS FULL THROTTLE. FOUND CASES ON INTERNET OF DEATHS RELATED TO THIS AND YOUTUBE VIDEO PROOF OF OTHER INSTANCES. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL OR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE OF THIS?

I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK WITH FUEL AND AS I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STALLED. IT CONTINUED TO STALL FOR ABOUT 50 MILES. NOW EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY TANK IT WILL STALL ON ME UNTIL I DRIVE ABOUT 30-50 MILES AND THE TANK IS NO LONGER FULL. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I CANT LET MY WIFE OR FAMILY DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF STALLING AND HAVING AN ACCIDENT.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN IDLE POSITION, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV TO ITS MAXIMUM RPMS. TO AVOID A CRASH, HER FOOT REMAINED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING AS IF SOMEONE HAD ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SHE WAS FORCED TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF TO STOP THE RPMS FROM INCREASING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE SINCE THEY COULD NOT FIND A REASON FOR THE SUDDEN FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 11,000.

AT TIMES, WHEN IN DRIVE AND WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO BRAKE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATES FORWARD FOR NO REASON REQUIRING MORE PRESSURE ON BRAKE UNTIL ACCELERATION STOPS, BUT NOT BEFORE MOVING FORWARD. THIS COULD BE 3-5 FEET DEPENDING HOW SUDDEN THE ACCELERATION OCCURRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, WITH THE LAST OCCURRING WHERE I HIT THE FRONT END OF OUR OTHER SUV. THIS SCARES US BECAUSE WHAT IF A PERSON IS IN FRONT OF US, ETC... WE HAVE REPORTED THIS TO OUR DODGE SERVICE AND THEY TOLD US THAT THEY HAVE NO REPORTS OF THIS. THEY ALSO ASKED US IF WE COULD HAVE HAD OUR FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR? TO ME THE WAY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL IS IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TYPE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIME PRIOR TO THIS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT ALSO HAPPENED IN A 2005 DURANGO WE HAD A FEW TIMES.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. ON APPROXIMATELY SIX OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAS TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HOLD IT DOWN. THE RPM'S INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WERE ATTEMPTING TO GET AWAY. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IN ORDER FOR IT TO STOP. THE ESP INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO A DEALER SIX TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,529 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. UPDATED 11/17/08 UPDATED 11/24/08.

TL CONTACT OWNS A 2007 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCES DIFFICULTY OPENING THE REAR WINDOW. THE HANDLE IS LOCATED BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST. IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS TOO CLOSE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH OCCASIONALLY CAUSES THE CONTACT TO ACCELERATE WHEN HE IS ACTUALLY TRYING TO BRAKE. ON ONE OCCASION, HE CRASHED INTO HIS HOME DUE TO THE PEDALS BEING SO CLOSE TOGETHER. NO ONE WAS INJURED DURING THE CRASH AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER.
