DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE MY CHRYSLER T&C LX STOW AND GO. I ONLY HAVE 4 PROBLEMS WITH IT. THIS ONE IS FOR THE TRANSMISSION AND IT SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME! LAST NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME ON THE HIGHWAY I WENT TO PASS A SEMI AND GOT ABOUT HALF WAY AROUND IT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HEARD A LOUD WHINNING NOISE AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW MY RPM WERE FULL BLOWN AND I WAS NOT GAINING SPEED I WAS STUCK AND NO WHERE TO GO AS CAR WAS APPROCHING A HEAD ON COLLISION I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES AND PRAY NO ONE WAS COMING UP BEHIND US AND GET BACK BEHIND SEMI!! HE WAS BLOWING HIS HORN AND I WAS FREAKING OUT. I MAD IT SAFELY BEHIND SEMI WITH SECONDS TO SPARE BEFORE ME AND MY 2 DAUGHTERS WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD OR SMASHED INTO TREES. I PULLED OVER AND AFTER CATCHING MY HEART AND PUTTING IT BACK IN MY CHEST GOT OUT AND CHECKED TRANNY FLUID IT WAS FULL AS IT IS SITTING THERE WHINING I COULD NOT IMAGINE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I GOT IN AND IT TOOK A BIT FOR IT TO KICK IN GEAR BUT IT DID . THAN IT SLIGHTLY SLIPPED IN 3RD ON WAY HOME STILL WHINNGING. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE THIS MORNING WHILE STILL WHINNNING AND SLIPPING HERE AND THERE AND HAD CODES READ TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED. AND GEARS 1 AND 3 MALFUNTIONED TOTALLY DEFECTS SOMEWHERE. STILL SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS!!

WHEN BRAKING RATHER HARD TO SLOW/STOP QUICKLY, TRANSMISSION HESITATES TO DOWNSHIFT SO WHEN STARTING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, ENGINE REVS UP BUT TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE. THEN IT WILL ENGAGE SUDDENLY WITH A HARD JERK WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS. ALSO, WHEN BRAKING HARD TO SLOW QUICKLY AND BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DISENGAGE AS IT SHOULD, THE ENGINE SOMETIME KILLS WHEN I HAVE SLOWED. IN AN INSTANCE WHEN THAT HAPPENED, I WAS MAKING A TURN AND, OF COURSE, LOST POWER STEERING SO BARELY AVOIDED HITTING A VEHICLE WAITING ON THE STREET INTO WHICH I WAS TURNING SINCE STEERING WAS VERY HEAVY TO ACCOMPLISH. BROUGHT THIS UP TO A TECHNICIAN WHO SAID, "YES THOSE VEHICLES ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR TRANSMISSIONS FAILURE TO DISENGAGE AND OCCASIONAL SLIPPAGE ON STARTING AND THEN SUDDENLY ENGAGING WITH A VERY HARD JERK". MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN/COUNTRY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AFTER MY HAND/PURSE RAN INTO THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I COASTED TO A STOP. LUCKILY, SINCE IT WAS ON A SIDE STREET WITH NO ONE BEHIND ME I WAS ABLE TO REMAIN CALM, PUT IT INTO PARK AND STARTED THE VEHICLE BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEM. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THEN. I HAVE MADE SURE TO LIGHTEN THE LOAD ON MY KEYCHAIN, ONLY HAVING 2 KEYS AND NOTHING ELSE. I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MPH!!! THAT IS WHY I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT. THE KEY SURELY SHOULD HAVE A SAFETY FEATURE BUILT INTO IT THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE IT IS BEING DRIVEN AND IN GEAR (DRIVE). A SIMPLE BUMP SHOULD NOT MAKE THAT KEY MOVE INTO A NON-DRIVABLE POSITION. I THINK A DEFECT LIKE THIS COULD INDEED CAUSE A FATAL CRASH AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. MY DEALERSHIP ASSURES ME ALL MY RECALLS ARE UP TO DATE.

STARTED WITH ERRATIC JUMPING OF INSTRUMENT NEEDLES SYNCHRONOUS WITH ELECTRICAL POPPING IN SOUND SYSTEM AND FLICKERING OF ALL LIGHTS. HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO NOW, KILLING THE ENGINE SUDDENLY WHILE UNDER POWER CONDITIONS, LEAVING VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND NECESSITATING SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL WHILE AT FULL ROAD SPEED, AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE TO REGAIN OPERATIVE CONTROL, ALL WHILE IN OPERATION ON THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FOUR OCCASIONS DURING THE PAST THREE WEEKS TO THIS DATE. VEHICLE ALSO HAS ELECTRICAL "HICCUPS" RESULTING IN DISENGAGEMENT OF TRANSMISSION UNDER OPERATING CONDITIONS, WHICH HAS SO FAR (SIX INCIDENCES) RE-ENGAGED WITHIN TEN SECONDS PURSUANT.THIS MORNING, JULY 11, 2013, WHILE AWAITING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE KILLED AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM LOCKED UP FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, INCLUDING INABILITY TO MOVE SHIFTER, NO RESPONSE TO KEY IN IGNITION; COMPLETE SHUTDOWN. APPROXIMATELY FOUR TO FIVE MINUTES LATER, IT SUDDENLY UNLOCKED, WAS ABLE TO BE PUT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED, AND DRIVEN AWAY WITH NO INDICATION OF ANY DIFFICULTY, AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. ALL OF THE ABOVE EVENTS HAVE BEEN SIMILARLY INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE. IT IS APPARENT TO ME THAT SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE IN THIS VEHICLE, AND I HAVE ENCOUNTERED SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS OF CHRYSLER TRUCKS AND MINIVANS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE PARTS IT INSTALLS IN IT'S PRODUCTS AND NEEDS TO ADDRESS AND CORRECT THESE VERY REAL AND EXPENSIVE SAFETY HAZARDS AT THE FIRST POSSIBLE MOMENT.

THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I WAS THE SECOND OWNER OF A 1998 TOWN AND COUNTRY AND THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS GREAT UNTIL MY 2 YEAR OLD CLIMBED INTO THE DRIVER SEAT, PULLED THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AND INTO NEUTRAL. HAD THE BACK SLIDING DOOR NOT BEEN OPEN FOR ME TO JUMP IN AND PUT THE VAN INTO PARK IT WOULD HAVE COASTED INTO THE NEIGHBORS FRONT PORCH. ON ANOTHER OCCURRENCE I WAS LOADING THE VAN WITH SOME ITEMS FROM THE REAR WHEN I REALIZED MY DAUGHTER AGAIN GOT INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT TO PRETEND DRIVE. I REALIZED THAT SHE WAS THERE AND WENT TO THE FRONT BUT WAS TOO LATE. SHE PULLED THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK (NO KEYS...THEY WERE IN MY POCKET) AND RAN INTO THE ANOTHER NEIGHBORS FENCE AND TRASH CANS. I WAS FURIOUS THAT THE DEALER I SPOKE TO SAID THE SHIFT INTERLOCK WAS NOT INSTALLED UNTIL 2000 AND REFUSED TO HELP SO I TRADED IT IN FOR A 2005 WITH ONE PREVIOUS OWNER. I THOUGHT WE WOULD BE ALRIGHT SINCE IT IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A SHIFT INTERLOCK (THE DASH EVEN STATES TO PRESS THE BRAKE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK) BUT JUST TODAY MY DAUGHTER, NOW 4, CLIMBED INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT (WITHOUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION) AT MY SISTER-IN-LAWS HOUSE AND DROVE MY 2005 VAN INTO HER SCHOOL VAN. I NOW NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT BUMPER. CHRYSLER HAS YET TO DO ANYTHING AND I AM NOT THE FIRST TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT TO THE APPROPRIATE GEARS WITH A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER THE REPAIR, A LOUD NOISE CONTINUED TO BE HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON A SEPARATE OCCASION FOR THE LOUD NOISE; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT PRESENT AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOUD NOISE STILL EXISTS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS PROBLEM. CAR WAS TAKEN REGULARLY FOR OIL CHANGES AND REQUIRED MANUFACTURER MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AND WHILE PULLING ACROSS HIGHWAY IT JUST DOES NOT GO. THE CAR CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND PULL THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE PUMP PROBABLY WENT OUT AND CAUSED THE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THUS, THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED. THIS IS A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND HAS 80,000 MILES. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS NOR ANY OBSERVABLE SIGNS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN ANY DISTRESS. MAYBE A FACTORY DEFECT BUT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

WHILE LOADING THE CAR AND IN A MOMENT OF INADVERTENCE, MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR OF MY VEHICLE AND CLIMB BEHIND THE WHEEL AND SHIFT THE CAR FROM +PARK+ INTO A DIFFERENT GEAR. MY SON WAS ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND (OBVIOUSLY) HE WAS UNABLE TO REACH ANY PEDALS. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, CROSSED A 2 LANE STREET AND STRUCK THE SIDE CURB AND A MAILBOX ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND THE MAILBOX THAT WAS TAKEN DOWN BY THE CAR. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I CALLED CHRYSLER AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT THIS ACCIDENT AND THAT IN MY OPINION THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS ACCIDENT. THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE THAT PREVENTS ANYONE FROM SHIFTING GEARS WITHOUT SUPPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. CHRYSLER DID ASSIGN AN INVESTIGATOR WHO INSPECTED MY CAR AT A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY DECLINED MY COMPLAINT +THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A MALFUNCTION WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO MOVE ITSELF.+ AS OF TODAY, THE VEHICLE STILL HAS THE ISSUE WITH THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM AND MYSELF AM ABLE TO EASILY MOVE THIS CAR FROM +PARK+ TO +NEUTRAL+ OR ANY OTHER POSITION WITHOUT KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND/OR WITHOUT SUPPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER DID NOT INVESTIGATE MY COMPLAINT THOROUGHLY AND FEAR THAT I+M PERHAPS NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT IS AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. I+M THE FIRST OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, THIS CAR WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN VERY CAREFULLY SO I+M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD AND THE DANGERS THAT THIS COULD BRING TO OTHER PARENTS/FAMILIES WHO PERHAPS ARE DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECT ON THEIR TOWN AND COUNTRY.

WHILE VISITING A RELATIVE MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS PARKED ON A DRIVEWAY THAT SLOPES DOWN A BIT. MY SON WAS ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND (OBVIOUSLY) HE WAS UNABLE TO REACH ANY PEDALS. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, CROSSED A 2 LANE STREET AND STRUCK THE SIDE CURB AND A MAILBOX ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY CAR AND THE MAILBOX THAT WAS TAKEN DOWN BY THE CAR. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I CALLED CHRYSLER AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT THIS ACCIDENT AND THAT IN MY OPINION THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS ACCIDENT. THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE THAT PREVENTS ANYONE FROM SHIFTING GEARS WITHOUT SUPPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. CHRYSLER DID ASSIGN AN INVESTIGATOR WHO INSPECTED MY CAR AT A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY DECLINED MY COMPLAINT +THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A MALFUNCTION WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO MOVE ITSELF.+ AS OF TODAY, THE VEHICLE STILL HAS THE ISSUE WITH THE SHIFT-BRAKE-INTERLOCK SYSTEM AND MYSELF AM ABLE TO EASILY MOVE THIS CAR FROM +PARK+ TO +NEUTRAL+ OR ANY OTHER POSITION WITHOUT KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND/OR WITHOUT SUPPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES; HOWEVER, THEY WERE ALL COVERED DUE TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. IT STARTED ACTUALLY QUITE SOME TIME AGO. IT SEEMED THAT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I WOULD LOSE MY POWER STEERING. ONCE IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A CEMENT CURB. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO WORK THE WHEEL AROUND AND AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES OF TRYING TO CONTROL THE VAN, THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. THERE HAS BEEN A NOISE AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND THEN I NOTICED THE VAN WAS LEAKING SOMETHING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE REPLACING SO MANY OF THEM THAT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AND THEY WERE UNSURE WHEN THEY WOULD GET ONE. THAT WAS IN NOV. 2007. IT IS NOW APRIL 2008 AND I AM STILL WAITING. IN FEB OF 2008 I WAS TOLD THEY HAD ONE FOR ME AND I TOOK MY VAN IN AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT NEVER ARRIVED AND THAT THEY TOLD THEIR PARTS DEALER THAT THEY NEEDED IT IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING ONTO OTHER PARTS AND CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS. IT'S STILL BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE THEN AND NOTHING. THE WHOLE FRONT OF MY VAN FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE ITS GOING TO FALL OFF AT ANY MOMENT. I HAVE HAD TO REFILL MY POWER STEERING FLUID EVERY 2-3 DAYS SINCE NOV 07 AND IT ISN'T GETTING ANY BETTER. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VAN. THE RIGHT CV JOINT HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS, THE AIR BAG SENSORS WENT BAD AND ONLY AFTER I PAID TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT TO THE TUNE OF $70 WERE THEY RECALLED, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE REAR HEATING/COOLING TUBES BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR NO LONGER WORKS AS WELL AS THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. DURING A TERRIBLE RAIN STORM, I HAD TO GO THROUGH A LARGE PUDDLE AND THE SPARE TIRE WAS RIPPED FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER SEALED PROPERLY AND THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. BOTH SETS OF BRAKES HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED, ROTORS REDONE AND THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE.

WHILE THE DEALER HAS REPLACED PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT CHRYSLER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.

2005 TOWN & COUNTRY: ON 7/16/06, MY HUSBAND, SON, AND I WERE DRIVING FROM OUR HOUSE AND HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AS WE TURNED THE CORNER. IT STOPPED, SO WE PROCEEDED WITH OUR DAILY ERRANDS. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS ON THE ROAD, WE WERE RETURNING HOME, TURNED THE CORNER, AND HEARD THE SAME NOISE. THIS TIME SOMETHING SNAPPED. THE VAN WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS, OR STAY IN A PARKED POSITION. MY HUSBAND THEN PUT THE CAR IN "NEUTRAL" AND PUSHED IT TO THE CURB. LUCKILY, WE WERE WITHIN A MILE OF OUR HOUSE, SO WE WERE ABLE TO WALK HOME. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CROWN CHRYSLER DODGE IN GREENSBORO, NC (THE PLACE WHERE WE PURCHASED IT) AND LEFT THE KEYS ALONG WITH AN EXPLANATION IN THE DROP BOX. WHEN THE TECHNICIAN CONTACTED MY HUSBAND ON 7/17/06, HE TOLD HIM THAT THE AXLE HAD BROKEN! THANK GOODNESS WE WERE GOING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED WHEN IT HAPPENED. IF IT COME APART DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, WE COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN KILLED! THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY (WE'VE HAD THE CAR ONLY 9 MONTHS) AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIR. HOWEVER, I FEEL IT NECESSARY TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT, IN THE EVENT THAT THIS HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. THE STEERING DID NOT RESPOND AND VEHICLE KEPT MOVING IN STRAIGHT DIRECTION. 5. SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY WITH NO RESPONSE. 6. SHE ALSO TRIED TO STEER VEHICLE TOWARDS EMPTY SPACE WITH NO RESULT. 7. SHE PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARKING; IT MADE SOME LOUD NOISE BUT DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. 8. THERE WAS A STEEL GATE RIGHT IN FRONT ABOUT 40-50 YARDS FROM WHERE SHE STARTED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED IN THE GATE AND STOPPED. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE STEEL GATE AND THE VEHICLE. 9. I ARRIVED AT THE PLACE ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES LATER. I WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE BUT DID NOT TRY TO MOVE/REVERSE IT. 10. SCHOOL AUTHORITIES INFORMED THE POLICE ABOUT THE INCIDENT. 11. AROUND 5 P.M. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BODY SHOP OF GOLLING CHRYSLER JEEP IN BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICHIGAN 12. NEXT MORNING (MARCH 10TH), MS SHEILA FROM GOLLING CHRYSLER BODY SHOP CALLED ME . AS PER HER, THE FUEL PUMP OF THE VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS AND THAT EXPLAINS THE PROBLEM WITH BRAKING AND STEERING SYSTEM. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO EXPLAIN HOW THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER STALLING AND VEHICLE MOVED IF THE FUEL PUMP WAS BROKEN. SHE ALSO INDICATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT START AT DEALERSHIP. IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY ORDER ON THURSDAY JAN 19,2006 AND RECEIVED ON JAN 26,2006. CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED ON JAN 27,2006 AS WELL AS EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET. [7-ON THIS DATE I ALSO REPORTED ON JAN 26,2006, WHEN I WAS BRAKING TO SLOW DOWN TO TURN RIGHT THE CAR ENGINE SURGED FORWARD AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF CAR-NOTHING WAS LISTED ON THE SERVICE COPY AS CAUSE OR WHAT WAS TESTED FOR THE ENGINE SURGING WHEN BRAKING.[8-REAR BRAKES HAVE CRYSTALLIZED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. COULD NOT PUT AUTO INTO PARK POSITION. TWO LIGHTS CAME ON, THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION THROTTLE INDICATOR. CALLED CHRYSLER ROADSIDE SERVICE AND WAITED FOR AN HOUR BEFORE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. AUTO WAS TOWED TO NEW SMYRNA BEACH DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD IT WAS TO LATE TO GET ANYTHING DONE THAT DAY(3:00-3:30PM). WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR TO GET HOME. THAT WAS ON 12/08/05 AND IT IS NOW 12/09/05 AT 1:00PM AND I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. I WILL BE CALLING THEM AFTER I FILE THIS COMPLAINT TO FIND OUT THE STATUS OF MY CAR REPAIR. I WENT ONLINE TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS MAKE OF CAR FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS RECALL?

MY CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LTD MINIVAN (BOUGHT NEW IN JULY 2001) SUFFERED SUDDEN AND COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MARCH 2005. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT HAD COME ON ONE DAY PRIOR - NO TIME TO EVEN SCHEDULE FOR SERVICE. A MODERATELY AUDIBLE WHINE HAD BEEN NOTICED FOR A MONTH OR SO PRIOR WHILE DRIVING BUT HAD NO REASON TO SUSPECT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP RELIGIOUSLY, INCLUDING FULL TRANSMISSION SERVICE AS RECOMMENDED. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT, IT WENT OUT WITH A LOUD BANG - THEN LOST ALL POWER. COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT LUCKILY. THE MINIVAN HAD 49,000 MILES ON IT. CAME WITH ALL OPTIONS INCLUDING TOWING PACKAGE, BUT I NEVER TOWED ANYTHING - NO TOW BAR INSTALLED. THIS DOES NOT SAY MUCH FOR CHRYSLER QUALITY. I IMAGINE IF I HAD BEEN TOWING A BOAT OCCASIONALLY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE FAILED MUCH SOONER. MY COST FOR REPAIRS WAS ABOUT $2,500. I WOULD LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED IF CHRYSLER EVER STEPS UP TO THE PLATE AND OFFERS TO REIMBURSE THOSE WHO LOST TRANSMISSIONS PREMATURELY. TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 100,000 MILES - I DON'T CARE WHAT THE WARRANTY SAYS. THAT IS A COP OUT. WITHOUT SOME REIMBURSEMENT I WILL NEVER BUY A CHRYSLER AGAIN. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND PROBABLY MY LAST.

WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY, THEN ALL SOURCE OF POWER WAS LOST. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THE LEFT FRONT VISOR WAS REPLACED, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPALCED DUE THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.

I HAD JUST PICKED UP MY NEW VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AND HAD ONLY 250 MILES ON IT. I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN BACK INTO GEAR. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER BUT EVERYTHING SEEMED OKAY. I CONTINUED ON AND QUICKLY DISCOVERED THE TRANSIMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING OUT OF LOW GEAR. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER ROAD SERVICE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO CONTRACTED SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE AREA WHERE I WAS. I MADE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER (<10 MILES AWAY). THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A FAILED POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. IT'S BEEN A WEEK AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I'VE BEEN GIVEN A PROMISE DATE THAT IS ALMOST 3 WEEKS OUT.
