8/21/2014 - ALGONA, WA
TRAVELING FREEWAY SPEED, INSIDE LANE, SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, ORANGE CHECK ENGINE (WRENCH) APPEARS ON DISPLAY. GOT TO ROADSIDE, APPEARED TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. TRUCK MOVED AT OWN (SLOW) SPEED, I HAD ZERO THROTTLE CONTROL. EXITED FREEWAY, SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED, ISSUE GONE. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET, SLEET, DE-ICER ON ROADWAY. WITH TRAFFIC ALL AROUND, ON SLICK ROADS, THIS WAS SOME SCARY STUFF RIGHT THERE!

8/19/2014 - EDGEWATER, MD
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD, MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. I WAS IN THE ON-COMING TRAVEL LANE ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE INCIDENT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING SLOWED DOWN WHEN I LOST POWER AN I WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY GET OVER. I COASTED WITH A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I RESTARTED IT A FEW MINUTES LATER IT RAN A LITTLE ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE MODEL WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHILE HAVING A TSB IN PLACE FOR THE ISSUE, DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE ISSUE AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE UNDER EITHER THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY OR MY FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY (BUMPER-TO-BUMPER HAS EXPIRED). THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM FORD TO FIX THESE ISSUES AND THEY APPARENTLY WILL NOT TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO DO SO ON THEIR OWN. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED IN SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI ON A DAY IN WHICH IT HAD BEEN RAINING OFF AND ON.

8/14/2014 - GRAND RAPIDS, MI
MY 2011 ECOBOOST F150 WOULD SPUTTER, SHAKE AND CHUG AS I DO A HARD ACCELERATION ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR PASS A VEHICLE. 4 TIMES I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR SERVICE WITH THE LAST 12 MONTHS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. MY ENGINE LIGHT WILL FLASH SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN IT WILL STAY ON TILL I TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. 2 TIMES THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THE PROBLEM IS A TURBO COOLER ISSUE AND WANT TO CHARGE ME $200 FOR SOME CHEAP LICK AND STICK PLASTIC AIR DEFLECTOR. THE OTHER 2 TIMES THEY HAVE SAID I HAVE A BAD DISTRIBUTION WIRE AND PLUG. FIRST WAS ON CYLINDER 3 AND SECOND TIME ON CYLINDER 1. EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A HARD ACCELERATION, ITS BEEN DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC AND I HAVE HAD TO PULL OF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TO NOW BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN ACCELERATING AS I FEEL THIS TRUCK IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN GET THIS RECALLED AS I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF THESE TRUCKS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 30 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND BEGAN TO SHAKE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INTERCOOLER NEEDED A SHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

SERVICE BRAKES

8/12/2014 - MCMURRAY, PA
MY WIFE HAD TO MOVE MY TRUCK SO THE KIDS HAD MORE ROOM TO PLAY IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO BIG DEAL, RIGHT? WRONG. SHE STARTS TO BACK DOWN THE DRIVEWAY (WHICH HAS A MODERATE GRADE) AND I NOTICE A LOOK OF PANIC ON HER FACE, COUPLED WITH THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK WASN'T STOPPING, I COULD SEE SOMETHING WAS WRONG. SHE FINALLY GOT IT STOPPED RIGHT BEFORE GOING OUT ONTO THE ROAD. SHE JUMPED OUT AND SAID, "YOUR BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK. I WAS PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD AND IT WOULDN'T STOP." I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND CAREFULLY TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION, AND SURE ENOUGH, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT IT HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THERE ARE PLENTY OF CASES LIKE THIS. SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY CRASHED THEIR VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A REALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. AND I WILL NOTE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST DANGEROUS PROBLEM I'VE HAD WITH THIS TRUCK. I'M SURE FORD WILL TELL ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME, LEAVING ME TO FOOT THE BILL FOR A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE RATHER COMMON, AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THEM. JUST LIKE THEY DID TO ME BEFORE.
